Hi everyone,

I'm Esleiter Barillas, a 25-year-old Guatemalan and a second-year student at the Central American Theological Seminary (SETECA), located in Guatemala City.

Financial aid for my study was stopped due to the COVID-19

About two years ago I decided to leave my profession (professional footballer), to dedicate myself fully to serving God within my community, to do it in the best way I decided to study for a Bachelor's Degree in Bible and Theology at the Central American Theological Seminary (SETECA), located in Guatemala City.

Due to the time it takes to study and fulfill ministerial responsibilities in my local church, I could not continue my profession. It is for this reason that several people from my local church decided to support me financially, with this I paid for my studies, but it was not enough to cover all the expenses I had.

A little over 6 months ago at SETECA I opted for a half scholarship thanks to my qualifications. But with the start of the pandemic and the confirmation of the first case in Guatemala, the economy was greatly affected. And with this, the people who helped me financially stopped doing so since March 2020.

My study equipment also is broken

Thanks to SETECA supporting me with 60% quarterly, I have struggled to get the rest through the sale of cupcakes and other items related to pastry.

But, it has been very difficult lately, because what I have generated has not reached me more than to cover my basic and family needs.

Coupled with the above problems, my laptop has stopped working, and it has become too difficult for me to share a computer with my brother who is also studying at the University. This is why I also need funds to be able to buy a laptop.

Usage of the collected funds

Currently, SETECA pays quarterly approximately $ 350.00 (Q2666.00), and of that amount I have to pay 40%, approximately $ 240.00 for the next two quarters before august 1st.

$100 on the purchase of books required in the assigned subjects

The remaining $160.00 will go towards saving a new computer.

I have generated funds through the sale of cakes, but they are not enough to cover my studies.

It is for this reason that I request your help.
